Picture of The Day: Dream

Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life. – Pablo Picasso

Last night I was prompted to start posting my “Picture of The Day” again on my blog. At 1 AM in the morning, I was still wide awake. This is definitely not good when you are up at 5:30 AM to start your day! In an attempt to do something to calm my brain that was running a mile a minute I decided to look at some art online. As I clicked through artwork, I noticed my thoughts began to quiet, and I was growing increasingly relaxed. Before I knew it, I was down for the count.

It is interesting how art affects your brain! University College London did a study that proved; viewing art for an hour will change your emotions. The simple act of seeing art will enhance your critical thinking skills, give you a higher sense of empathy, and spark creativity. Art releases dopamine into the part of the brain that registers love. Love is a calm feeling!

As writers, the switch in our brain is more often in the on position than in the off. I have discovered that we need to disconnect and reboot. This is something that I don’t do very often. From the time my feet hit the floor in the morning, I am off to the races. I have so much to do and determined to get it done. I am going to try to disconnect more, and I urge all of my followers to do the same. Hell, if we don’t stop to smell the roses, at least we can press pause and view some art! I hope you enjoy the picture of the day!

I love black and whites. What I also like about this photograph is the reflection of the clouds in the water. The image has a peaceful feel, and the sky is awesome!!!

This is a photograph that I would stare at in an urban art gallery. This picture makes me want to climb into his head and experience his thoughts, feelings, and emotions at that very moment. This image also makes for a great writing prompt.

Slovenia’s Lake Bled is my #pictureoftheday. I thought this photo by Tpsdave was beautiful. This artist has a wonderful eye for photography and I love sharing his work. Lake Bled looks like a place I would love to visit.

David and Laurie fled at the bewitching hour, careful not to tip off family friends and those that had then under their radar. Unknown, they arrived in Venice and hurried to their hotel. David slid the mid- sized hotel under the bed for safe keeping as Laurie took in the view. “Will they find us here she asked staring out of the picturesque window.” David gave her a hug in response, he had no answer regarding their fate. The couple stood in silence and took in the breath- taking view.

Picture of The Day: Winter Landscape

When I meditate on this picture I think of Jimmy and I in front of a roaring fire. Sitting in a lazy boy made for two. He would be playing his PS4 and I would be writing. From time to time we would look over at each other just to say I love you. Basically how our time together goes now just without the snow.

This image is of a winter landscape in New York. I thought this picture of the day was fitting for this time of year. I have not seen snow like this since I left Virginia and I hope to never see it again.

I love this piece of art!!! Not just because of my Indian ancestry, this painting is beautifully done. The artist put a great deal of time and care into it’s creation.

I love this piece! It makes me think of the earth on fire. Another depiction can be how autumn rushes in and changes everything to vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and brown. What do you see?

This young man is on a journey that we can only hope to imagine. I wish I could join him and indulge in some good conversation along the way.
