When Everything Falls Perfectly Into Place!

Don’t you love when you put a plan into action, and it unfolds just as you hoped? Even the smallest accomplishments in life can be satisfying. At least they are to me. As an optimist, I believe the small achievements give way to the major ones.

I have been writing full time for six months now. Which has always been a desire of mine! The ability to do what I’m most passionate about for a living. When I started virtual assisting, I thought most of my work would come from social media marketing and management with a splash of writing tasks. In the past, it did, but as of lately the majority of contract work has been writing content for websites, articles, and research. I’m not complaining, in fact, I am excited!

Two Drops of Ink adds to my excitement! For those of you who do not follow Two Drops of Ink, first I say… “shame on you!!!” Just kidding, to each their own but you don’t know what you’re missing! I have noticed many of my followers here, and on Instagram and Twitter are now regulars on the site. The literary site has grown tremendously, conquering many obstacles. The move from Blogger to WordPress! The move due to growth served up a hit to it’s following, but Two Drops of Ink overcame it by leaps and bounds. When people love something so much, they will do everything possible to keep it a part of their lives. Along the way the site has earned many awards and is on its way to becoming the best literary site for writers. It’s already in the top 50 best writing blogs that achievement is huge!!! All the new features are a great addition to the site. The Book Shelf is for authors to promote their novels. Wall of Poets debuts the work of seasoned and upcoming poets. Hump Day Humor gives us writers something to laugh about so if you have a funny story or memoir piece submit it. Sunday Spotlight highlights contributors to the site. The site is excellent! I remember coming on board right after the transition. The growth I have seen along the way has been incredible. I also credit my growth as a writer to the site. The camaraderie of the team is like no other. I am ecstatic to be in the company of such great writers. As we speak, I’m working on my next three pieces for Two Drops, and I hope to read a post from you in the future as well.

An Eventful New Year

Hello, fellow bloggers! Hope the new year is treating you exceptionally well. For me, it is quite eventful. As some of you may have noticed, I’m in the process of re-branding my virtual assistant business. This process has been time-consuming but fun I must say. Most entrepreneurs would see it as stressful and a little painstaking. I look at it as an opportunity to build upon the foundation I have started and further my growth.

My decision to make modifications was influenced by client comments. When you work in close collaboration with people, they can give you insight into your business. If you’re open to it! In my case, their subtle suggestions made sense, so now I’m running with it. So as this month moves along, you will see my new business name The Militant Virtual Assistant. I’m excited about the change.

A Total Do Over!!!

Love is funny!!! As a young girl, I wanted to own a business, be married to my best friend minus the children. During my time in the military, I was going to be a lifer and married to a lifer as well. Children never fit into life’s equation for me. One of the reasons for the end of my first marriage was because he wanted a child. That was the minor issue, but the rest is a story to be told later. In the past, when I dated which was not often I stayed away from men with young children. Well, when Jim and I met I decided to try something different. In the beginning, it was okay, but things changed. His son started to have behavioral issues that were leading him down the wrong road. So, to make a long story short, we decided to end our engagement and continue as friends. Single again!!! I thought I would be sad and depressed but what’s weird is I feel like a load has been lifted off my shoulders. I can’t figure out why!!! What is also funny is that everywhere I go online I encounter singles ads and blog websites for 40 and overs. I almost feel like I’m being spied on. LOL!!! I visited a blog, and the blogger wrote as if single at forty is the end of the world. I got a good laugh that day. Life is what you make it! Saturday, I will be forty years young, and I feel as if I’m in my prime. Life has granted me a do over!

This year so far has kept me smiling and laughing. Definitely, good writing material as well. I hope life has been full of laughs and smiles for you as well.

🎆Versatile Blogger Award Nomination🎆

I was recently nominated by Mike Senczyszak of Solsbury Hill. Solsbury Hill is definitely a deserving recipient of the Versatile Blogger Award. I’m a fan of the “Photogenic Quote of the Week” and all Mike’s other eccentric musings. I do find my thrill on Solsbury Hill!!! LOL!!! I had to do it, I just couldn’t help myself!!! For those of you who caught on to my corny joke. But anyway…

The Importance of Writing

When I was asked to write about “writing” I was immediately excited. My excitement was not just because I love to write, but because there were so many ways I could approach the subject of writing; all of which allowed me to be imaginative!

arm-1284248_1280

I chose the “importance of writing” because writing is an essential part of my life, whether it is my blog, expressing my thoughts and feelings to others, or in my professional field as a virtual assistant.

Writing is important because it gives us the ability to express a thought and deliver information, using words or symbols. In the simplest manner, writing is: words and symbols on paper.

We have grown considerably from the old way of jotting out letters, essays and greeting cards.

Writing is involved and evolving: we text, email and utilize blogging as well as other types of social media to get our messages out there for others. We now write on a MacBook, IPad, Laptop, and Smartphones.

Conveying the Important Information

Have you ever attempted to express an opinion or provide information about a subject but didn’t know where to begin? Outlining your ideas, thoughts seems like a daunting task for some; myself included some days.

However, if I begin by brainstorming and developing various aspects of my topic, I find I have a lot of information. Then I can begin to research all the diverse aspects of my subject and help me solidify my writing objectives.

What is The Important Objective in Writing?

The ultimate goal or objective of any writing is to ignite a particular reaction from the audience. The way in which you use the words in the composition determines the response of the reader. What response are you hoping to receive?

Whether writing to advertise, educate, deliver a speech or entertain; the way in which you choose to present the topic is important. Determine the type of audience you intend to attract.

Research and brainstorm any topic and write, just don’t forget to rewrite; it’s not as in-depth as you may think, and it pays off in the end.

Writing does not require you to be a creative genius or literary scholar. All you need is the ability to convey a thought or emotion in the form of words.

I often find myself writing articles, advertisements, call- to- actions, and blogs, for those who deem themselves incapable.

It is not that they don’t have the ability but that they don’t know where to start. Begin by writing down the subject matter of your composition that may consist of a compilation of thoughts, research and statistical data.

Once you have completed this process, you can start to build your final piece from there. My advice is to write from the heart even when including all other information.

My joy of writing comes when I write using my voice and emotions coupled with all other data.

And it’s that personal quality that makes my writing important to me; it’s authentic, easily understood by others and just maybe in time, it will have importance and give hope and encouragement to someone else to find the importance of writing.

Just Write!!!        pen-622037_1280

Lydia Oyetunji: The woman you want to meet.

Personable, dependable, confident, different and some even say weird. These are just a couple of the descriptions I remember off the top of my head. I welcome them all and I actually agree. As I sit back and take the time to introduce myself to the world, I also get to honestly assess myself as a person.

I am a proud American veteran. Yes, American don’t let the last name fool you. My greatest accomplishment was my four year service to my country. I would do it again in a heartbeat!  I’m an entrepreneur, virtual assistant and a closet writer. Don’t get me wrong I write articles for clients and I just started blogging. I have been writing short stories all my life.

Enough with all the boring stuff. LOL!!  I’m fun loving, whenever you see me I’m smiling. You’d be able to hear it in my voice. I start each day with yoga, quiet meditation and reflection, then prayer. I pray for the world…. I love people, animals, plants, food. I love the idea and the feeling of love and happiness. For me the cup of life is always half full, almost running over, never half empty. Wait now… I do have bad days!

As a 37 year old woman in a second marriage that is going nowhere fast. My husband lives in Russia, yes… Russia. I have not seen or touched him since June 2012. I have no children and at this point don’t foresee it. This is totally different than what I dreamed of as a girl. I saw myself as a wife, mother and journalist. I love what I do as an entrepreneur and virtual assistant but yes sometimes I feel like something is missing. On the other hand I have a care free lifestyle, I can do whatever I want it’s only me. I have been alone for so long it would almost feel strange living with someone.

Music is one of my favorite past- times. I love all genres, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Chuck Berry, Mile Davis, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Katy Perry, Jay- Z, and Beyoncé. I can go on and on, all of this and more is what you will find on my IPod or computer. Movies choices range from chick flicks, action, documentaries to comedy.

I love poodle skirts, cars and music of the 50’s. Gladiator movies, murder mysteries and documentaries. There is so much to love in history and fantasy, which spark and feeds creativity.

Go Patriots!!! I Love Football, hopefully we can get a break this year. We need a ring! LOL!!! “We”, maybe they will give me an honorary super bowl ring. Nascar driving is always good and I have been a few times when I lived in Florida. I was also gifted with the Nascar Driving Experience, it was totally awesome!!! I love Dale Earnhardt Jr., he really deserves a season win.

My ideal day is shopping for a sexy dress and stilettos, getting a manicure and pedicure for a great night at dinner.  The following day you may find me at the gun range or suited up for paint ball. Oh, I forgot to mention I was an expert shooter in the Navy. I’m still pretty good if I must say so myself.

Peace, happiness and love are my daily mantras. So, yes I will definitely say I’m the woman you want to meet. A lifelong friend, sister from another mother, kindred spirit, hard worker. This my friends is me, Lydia Oyetunji.
